IRONPACK

Vertical Leg Press

Muscles worked: Quads, Glutes.

How to do it

  1. Lie flat on your back under the platform with your hips and lower back down.
  2. Place your feet on the platform above you, about shoulder-width.
  3. Release the safeties and take the weight with your legs.
  4. Lower until you feel a hard stretch, keeping your lower back on the pad.
  5. Press straight up. The range is short and the stretch is brutal - go lighter than the 45 degree sled.

Coaching cues

The two cues IronPack shows on this exercise's card mid-workout:

Logging it

IronPack suggests working in the 8 to 12 rep range, progressing in 10 kg jumps when you own the top of the range. Records are tracked automatically at every rep count from 1 to 12. Check your estimated 1RM from any hard set.
