Oblique Heel Touches
Muscles worked: Abs.
How to do it
- Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat, heels close to your glutes.
- Lift your head and shoulder blades off the floor and keep them there for the whole set.
- Reach down your side and tap your fingertips on your heel.
- Come back through the middle and tap the other heel.
- Keep it a side bend, not a bounce - if your shoulders drop to the floor, the set is over.
Coaching cues
The two cues IronPack shows on this exercise's card mid-workout:
- Shoulders stay off the floor the whole set
- Reach side to side and tap the heel - no bouncing
Logging it
IronPack suggests working in the 15 to 30 rep range, progressing in 1 kg jumps when you own the top of the range. Bodyweight movement: log added weight only, and your records account for your logged bodyweight. Records are tracked automatically at every rep count from 1 to 12. Check your estimated 1RM from any hard set.
